May is Foot Health Awareness Month

Published On: May 12, 2021

The month of May is a time when chiropodists around the world join together to promote the importance of good foot health.

What is a Chiropodist?

As defined by the Michener Institute, a chiropodist is “a primary health care professional who specializes in the assessment, management and prevention of dysfunctions, disorders and diseases of the foot.”

How Can a Chiropodist Help Me?

Chiropodists are specially trained to be able to provide solutions for conditions like:

  • foot, heel, ankle, and knee pain caused by structural foot problems
  • painful ingrown nails
  • corns, callus and plantar warts
  • wounds from diabetes
  • prickling, tingling or numbness caused by nerve damage
  • thick/fungal nails

Chiropodists use leading techniques and technology, including Custom Orthotics, Shockwave Therapy and Swift Microwave Therapy for plantar warts.

Chiropodists also provide routine nail care. The advantage to seeing your chiropodist for regular nail care is that they can regularly examine your feet to catch and treat other potential foot health issues.

Your feet are your foundation! That’s why you should take good care of them, and we can help! Give our office a call or send us an email to schedule your appointment today!
